Another term for a PC clone. It refers to the non-branded carton, which is typically white and is often the original carton the metal case came in by itself. White box marketing refers to the hundreds of small companies that assemble and sell PCs, often under their own brand name, which is essentially just a label placed on the case. Resellers may also keep the original label, which is from the manufacturer of the case or case and motherboard combo, but one that is not widely recognized. It is estimated that white boxes make up at least 25% of the PC market. See also white box testing.
