(1) (Icon, capital "I") A high-level programming language for Windows, Mac and Unix that is maintained by The University of Arizona at Tucson. Icon provides extensive string handling similar to languages such as SNOBOL, but uses ALGOL syntax and structure. Its unique features include the automatic generation of multiple outputs, such as a range of integers or strings, and goal-directed expressions that seek a successful outcome.
