The digital counterpart of traditional photographic film. Most digital cameras use some type of flash memory card (CompactFlash, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, etc.). Some cameras record images on optical discs such as write-once CD-Rs and rewritable CD-RWs. Sony's earlier Mavica cameras used floppy disks for "film" storage.
