The capability of instantly switching to a collaborative application when required. For example, if an article on the Web contains links to the person who wrote it, clicking that link might open up an instant message window if that individual were online at the moment. Another example would be an advertisement for a service that could launch a calendar to make an appointment. Contextual collaboration implies an ever-increasing integration of collaborative applications. See collaborative CRM and groupware.
