If you are interested in the technical details of your computer configuration, you can display its current IRQ settings, port (I/O), memory and DMA addresses. To obtain this information, select the required items in the following order:
Windows Vista and XP
1. Click Start Menu/All Programs/Accessories.
2. Select System Tools/System Information.
Windows 2000
1. Start menu/Settings/Control Panel.
2. Administrative Tools.
3. Computer Management.
4. System Tools.
5. System Information.
6. Hardware Resources.
7. Select IRQ, I/O, Memory or DMA.
Windows 98
1. Click Start Menu.
2. Select Programs/Accessories/System Tools.
3. Click System Information.

System Information reports a ton of technical detail such as this, which used to be quite necessary. Fortunately, since Plug and Play became available years ago starting with Windows 95, even tech support people no longer deal with this on a regular basis.
