Windows lets you review and edit the current settings of all the resources in your computer by selecting their Properties. Properties serve as a front end to the Registry, which is the database in Windows where the settings are actually stored (see Win Registry).
The Properties dialog boxes, also known as "Property Sheets," are displayed by selecting the various control panels from the Start menu (see Win control panels). Right clicking on various objects also displays Properties. Following are ways to access some useful Property Sheets.
FILES AND FOLDERS (Size, Date, etc.)

SCREEN APPEARANCE (Desktop, Colors, Screen saver)
Right click on any uncovered part of the desktop. In Vista, select Personalize. In all other versions, select Properties.

HARDWARE CONFIGURATION (Model, Driver data)
Except for Windows NT 4, the Device Manager shows the details of all the attached hardware. See Win Device Manager.
