A DOS session created in Windows 95 and higher in order to run a DOS or earlier Windows 3.1 application. Depending on the version of Windows, each application may run in its own, or all applications are run in the same, Virtual DOS Machine. In addition, the Virtual 8086 mode of the x86 chip may or may not be used. See Virtual 8086 Mode.
