After June 12, TVs that pick up analog signals with an antenna will no longer work unless a digital converter box is used (see TV converter box).
Cable and Satellite Is Good Until 2012
Subscribers to cable and satellite TV services are not affected by the switch. They are closed systems that are already sending analog signals to your TV and will continue to do so until 2012 by order of the FCC.
Government Rebates
The U.S. government provides two $40 rebate coupons per household for purchasing converter boxes, which can be obtained online at www.dtv2009.gov or by calling 1-888-388-2009. See DTV and 700 MHz spectrum.

- FCC says transition to digital TV has been fairly smooth
- If you're reading this, you probably weren't impacted by last week's official transition to digital TV signals, but there was concern that many people would be without their usual programming and raise a big fuss.
