Refers to the 1920x1080 "interlaced" HDTV format. The 1080-line formats provide the maximum lines of resolution in the HDTV standard; however, interlaced 1080i delivers an image that is not as sharp as progressive 1080p, especially when rendering fast motion. See interlaced, HDTV, 1080p and 720p.
